Volunteers
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
The Covington Century was a big success due to the hundreds of volunteers who helped! Starting many months before the ride, people reached out to help! Our volunteers came from all of the surrounding cities such as Covington, Newborn, Rutledge, Social Circle, Mansfield, Monticello, Madison, Atlanta, Alpharetta, Marietta, and even a volunteer who came all of the way from Tallahassee, Florida (her husband rode) and volunteered all day helping in the PAK kitchen! There were volunteers from all of the local police departments, fire departments, chamber of commerce’s, churches, bike shops, corporations, local schools, newspapers, and bike teams. The community reached out to bring home made baked goods, make signs, pick up food, help get sponsors, cook the spaghetti dinner, and help with rest stops to name a few of the jobs.
On the day of the ride, volunteers started at 3:00AM, picking up food and setting up rest stops, registration, work at the spaghetti dinner, and ended the day around 6:30pm. People worked non-stop to help Project Adventure Kids put on the best ride ever! We can never begin to thank you enough!
If you would like to volunteer with the 2009 Covington Century Ride or with Project Adventure Kids, please email to auchenbach@comcast.net. Thanks again!!!
*Thank You!
We also have to thank professional photographer Kent Ruby. For the past three years he has covered the ride. His team of professional photographers this year included Doug Fallon and Bill Papa. Their excellent photography work has given many riders great pleasure in seeing themselves during the ride! Please visit Kent’s website
(www.kent-photo.photoreflect.com ) to view and purchase the beautiful photographs from the ride.
*Thank You!
We also want to thank the Newton County Ham Radio team. For the first time, they joined our ride by posting their ham radio team (plus a roving van) throughout the route reporting anyone that needed immediate help. The team did an excellent job and helped to make the route even safer for everyone! Please visit them at www.ncrcga.org.
*Thank You!
We also have to thank Cherise Forbes and the “Dangerous Curves”. The all female motorcycle group lead the cyclists at the beginning of the ride. Please visit them at (www.dangerouscurvesm-c.com).
*Thank You!
We would also like to thank the Covington Fire Department for their help in lighting the Project Adventure Kids campus in the early morning of August 2nd. Their help meant we could prepare for the 1,100+ cyclists to arrive first thing that morning! A big thank you to all of you!
